First Trading Day

I'm pretty sure that we do not receive IPO date, could we potentially make a "First Trading Day" metric? Retreive the the date associated with the first price. This typically gets brought up in the screener, eg, people want companies that IPO'd at least 5 years ago, or within the year.

Interesting idea..Need to think about companies that go private and IPO again. (GM for example) Which date do we use? Last? Both?

In the case of GM, I believe that you would use the most recent IPO date. Most people use this as a risk metric it seems, they just want to know company has been trading consistently for x number of years.

this would also be helpful for indices. it is used in a model we are trying to replicate for Foster Group (2 seat pro).
