Excel Syntax Change on Website

Is there anywhere on Y-Charts where it posts any specific changes and/or additions to Excel syntax whenever it is updated? For example when a new field is able to be pulled in and when existing syntax changes like recently when “last_period_imported” changed to “last_period” for macroeconomic data? I only noticed that one when my macroeconomic data spreadsheets were coming back with errors.

I re-download the complete reference guide from time to time but it can be hard to compare for changes.

Hi Kyle,

Just wanted to send some feedback that it’s concerning to me that YCHARTS seems to often change it’s Excel codes. Today, one of my codes failed because it had been retired:

Retired Code

HEADQUARTER_COUNTRY

New Code

HQ_COUNTRY_CODE

It makes more sense that you guys would leave the old codes alone, but still let them work. Or else every few months, I will have to update all my templates all over again, and I cannot trust the integrity of my templates, nor can I have the confidence of sharing these with my colleagues. In my old firm which worked in the same space, it was very rare that we would retire codes and when we did, we made it a big fat deal to make sure clients knew about it beforehand.

We shouldn't have this happen again. Point taken.
